About the Role

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and visionary physician leader to serve as its next Service Line Chief of Anesthesiology. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of anesthesia services across an integrated rural health system while maintaining a meaningful clinical practice. The Service Line Chief will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for a highly collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic and clinical leadership for the Anesthesiology Service Line across the system.
Promote integrated care delivery, improve performance, and drive growth.
Maintain a strong commitment to patient-centered, high-quality care aligned with Bassett’s mission.
Manage 0.7 FTE Clinical / 0.3 FTE Administrative responsibilities.
Oversee service line growth and expansion.
Improve OR efficiency and turn over time.
Oversee staffing, workflows, and clinical operations.
Drive quality, safety, and patient experience improvement.
Lead recruitment, retention, and development of the physician workforce.
Build strong relationships with practitioners, leadership, and stakeholders.
Demonstrate clear communication, responsiveness, and credibility.
Identify opportunities to improve quality and safety.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
Identify opportunities to improve patient experience.
Identify opportunities for strategic recruitment and outreach.
Decrease agency utilization.
Increase days of anesthesia coverage at offsite OR’s.

Requirements

MD/DO or equivalent.
Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
Eligible for New York State licensure.
Minimum 7+ years postgraduate clinical experience in an academic or community-based healthcare system.
Minimum 5+ years of successful leadership experience.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
