About the Role
Bassett Healthcare Network in central New York is seeking a full-time BC/BE Thoracic Surgeon to perform thoracic surgeries, including minimally invasive and complex procedures, diagnose and treat chest conditions, and collaborate with specialists on treatment plans. The role involves patient care, research, quality improvement, and education within an integrated health system.
Responsibilities
- Perform thoracic surgeries, including minimally invasive and complex procedures
- Diagnose and treat conditions affecting the chest and thoracic cavity
- Collaborate with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, pulmonologists, and other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients
- Participate in clinical research and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Educate patients and families about treatment options and recovery processes
- Participate in medical student and General Surgery residency education
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Completion of a residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Thoracic Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Board certification or eligibility in Thoracic Surgery
- Valid medical license in New York State
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with advanced imaging and diagnostic tools
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development
