About the Role
HSBC is seeking a Senior Account Manager with proven experience in the Commercial Card arena to generate and drive revenue by identifying, developing, and optimizing client opportunities. This role focuses on new business generation within the Global Payments and Cash Management (GPS) division.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 20-25 key card programmes.
- Proactively focus on generating new business opportunities to create income from instigation to implementation.
- Drive programme optimisation and growth through objective setting.
- Manage costs to meet or reduce the target cost-to-income ratio.
- Negotiate terms of new commercial agreements internally and with clients.
- Close sales and process contracts.
- Build relationships with new and existing clients to understand their requirements.
- Attend and support client meetings and conferences.
- Develop and implement new ways of working with key clients for long-term partnerships.
- Implement best practices to support an enhanced customer journey.
- Understand market trends and their likely impact on revenue streams.
- Collect and share competitor and trend analysis.
- Communicate new income opportunities to internal stakeholders.
- Attend networking and local business groups to build networks and stay updated on industry developments.
Requirements
- Proven B2B sales or account management experience.
- A track record of understanding customer needs and delivering excellent customer service.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to change.
- Willingness to support others in responding to change.
- Both verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of adapting communication style and approach to the audience and message.
- Previous experience in developing commercial income in a similar environment is an advantage.
- Relevant product knowledge including Cards, Commercial Cards, Global Payments Solutions (GPS) is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working in relevant environments, e.g., Commercial Banking is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working in relevant markets or contexts, e.g., European exposure is desirable but not essential.
- Fluency in Spanish, French, German, or Italian is an advantage but not essential.
