About the Role
The Specialty Staff Pharmacist performs a wide range of pharmaceutical care functions to assure that drugs prescribed for and used by patients are safe and effective. This includes obtaining medication histories, reviewing medication profiles, providing drug information, consulting with prescribers, counseling patients, supervising technicians for insurance authorizations, and preparing/dispensing medications. The Pharmacist will also oversee the Patient Management Program and clinical activities.
Responsibilities
- Obtain medication histories

- Provide drug information to patients and health care providers
- Consult with prescribers and recommend drugs of choice
- Counsel patients in the proper use of medications
- Ensure patients understand cautions, adverse reactions, and interactions related to their therapy
- Supervise pharmacy technicians to secure insurance authorizations for medications
- Prepare and dispense prescription medications and pharmaceutical products for patient care
- Oversee the Patient Management Program
- Oversee clinical activities
- Oversee delivery of services as required
Requirements
- Must have a valid pharmacy license.
- Experience in specialty pharmacy is preferred.
- Familiarity with insurance authorization processes.
- Ability to supervise pharmacy technicians.
