About the Role
This role is crucial for ensuring smooth patient flow and administrative operations within our healthcare network. You will be part of a compassionate community dedicated to improving healthcare for all by innovating value-based care and leveraging integrated applications.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and families, schedule appointments, and arrange hospital and ambulatory admissions/procedures.
- Answer telephones promptly, address caller needs, direct calls, take messages, and demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette.
- Schedule future appointments, tests, and complete physician-ordered referrals.
- Maintain communication resources, including on-call schedules and physician contact information.
- Prepare new patient charts, ensuring all required forms are included and converting temporary records to permanent ones daily.
- Request medical records and prepare charts with necessary information for physician visits.
- Reconcile encounters daily according to policy and guidelines.
- Monitor supply inventory and submit requisitions for supplies, forms, equipment, or services.
- Perform various clerical duties such as faxing, photocopying, filing, and mailing.
- Obtain, verify, and update patient information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Accurately complete all necessary patient forms.
- Respect patient rights by knocking, using the patient's name, and identifying yourself before entering rooms.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with physicians and nursing staff.
- Protect patient and employee privacy and confidentiality.
- Promptly communicate any problems or equipment concerns to the Nurse Manager.
- Arrange for specialty equipment/services.
- Interact with outside vendors and contracted services.
- Submit necessary documents for hospital admissions.
- Collect pre-admission testing data.
- Demonstrate knowledge of insurance and pre-certification requirements.
- Arrange, type, and distribute schedules.
- Maintain office supplies and equipment.
- Provide training to other office staff.
- Log surgical procedures.
- Maintain the scheduling system, including rescheduling and canceling procedures.
- Utilize customer service skills to alleviate patient anxiety.
- Communicate effectively with peers using customer service skills.
- Collate and submit information.
- Communicate repair orders to appropriate personnel.
- Demonstrate good judgment in scheduling procedures to increase physician productivity.
- Demonstrate understanding of fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Perform other job duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Accurate computer data entry skills.
- Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
- Basic proficiency in computer use required.
- Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
