About the Role
This role involves providing excellent customer service by accepting donations, maintaining a clean and organized donation area, and assisting customers with purchases. You will also receive cross-training to support company productivity and individual growth.
Responsibilities
- Follow all Goodwill policies and safety procedures.
- Accept all donations from customers and provide a positive customer experience.
- Keep the donations area clean and organized.
- Greet every donor and acknowledge those waiting.
- Assist with every donation.
- Treat every donation with respect.
- Thank every donor for supporting job training and education initiatives.
- Receive cross-training as Barcoder and Processor Trainee.
- Correctly label outgoing gaylords.
- Maintain the placement of all merchandise and organization of the production room.
- Sort donations into correct categories.
- Assist customers with loading furniture or other items.
- Present and obtain customer signature on waiver for furniture purchases.
- Assist with sale tickets and sold signs for furniture, electrical, and other large items.
- Assist in loading or unloading of merchandise onto/off trucks or trailers.
- Operate pallet jack, sit-down and/or standing forklift safely.
- Conduct daily safety inspection on all company owned equipment.
- Report all non-employee and employee injuries.
- Ensure all safety rules are complied with and appropriate safety equipment is used.
- Maintain work areas in a clean, uncluttered, hazard-free condition.
- Take action and/or report any unsafe or potential hazards.
- Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance at all times.
- Wear company-issued uniform.
- Attend work regularly.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must possess professional etiquette.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including nights, weekends, and occasionally long hours.
- Must be able to meet physical demands of position.
- Ability to be flexible and assist other areas of the store when needed.
- Vision corrected to within normal limits.
- Sense of sound (ability to hear donation bell).
- Sense of touch.
- Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
- Ability to pass a training certification class if needed for double stacker.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to operate pump jack and/or double stacker.
- Ability to communicate and understand instructions, both verbal and written, in English.
