About the Role
This role provides nursing continuity to multidisciplinary clinics including GYN Oncology, Geriatric Oncology, and Supportive Care Oncology Clinic. The nurse will provide patient teaching, resource between clinic to infusion center, team coverage when needed, follow up phone calls, symptom management support, and in-basket management. This role will require someone who enjoys working with teams, is self-motivated, and a good communicator.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for provision of competent direct patient care based on established standards.
- Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
- Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services and assumes an expanded role which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
- Provides patient teaching.
- Acts as a resource between clinic to infusion center.
- Provides team coverage when needed.
- Provides follow up phone calls.
- Offers symptom management support.
- Manages in-basket tasks.
- Reviews upcoming schedules to be aware of upcoming clinics.
- Huddles with staff before and after clinic to identify action items.
