About the Role

The University of Rochester is seeking a change management professional to play a key role in ensuring projects and initiatives reach their full potential by preparing stakeholders for change. This role focuses on the people side of change, including business processes, systems, technology, job roles, and organizational structures.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute change management strategies and plans to minimize resistance and maximize engagement.
  • Coach project stakeholders, leaders, and teams to develop strategies for buy-in and to leverage the change management framework.
  • Ensure all program documentation aligns with the change management strategy and plan.
  • Participate in business process workshops to understand current and future state processes.
  • Assess change impacts on the organization and roles.
  • Lead or partner with a Communications lead to ensure targeted messaging accurately describes the change.
  • Partner with training experts to develop a training program for end-users.
  • Identify measurement methodologies to track adoption, utilization, and proficiency of individual changes.
  • Adjust change management strategies and tactics as necessary.
  • Issue regular reports to project leadership, escalating risks and proposing mitigation plans.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive change management plan for people, processes, workflows, and systems.
  • Apply a structured approach to stakeholder analysis, coaching plans, communications, training, and resistance management.
  • Develop and conduct readiness assessments, analyze results, and present findings to sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to integrate change management plans into the overall project plan.
  • Ensure change management strategy is a forefront of project activities and stakeholder impact is evaluated.
  • Ensure assigned projects meet business, schedule, and budget objectives for change management activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on change management activities.
  • Advise and coach stakeholders, leaders, and managers on executing change management activities.
  • Identify potential people-side risks, analyze KPIs, and recommend mitigation plans.
  • Build and lead a sponsorship coalition to champion change within the organization.
  • Partner with the executive sponsor to actively and visibly participate in the change process.
  • Provide organizational change consultations and/or training to project teams/sponsors.
  • Develop and/or coach teams on conducting assessments, analyzing results, and presenting findings.
  • Provide strategy/activity recommendations for project team execution regarding Communications and Training.
  • Stay current with business and strategic goals.
  • Participate in and promote the identification, recommendation, and delivery of improvement opportunities for change management and project processes.
  • Participate in the development and review of procedures for communications, training, change management, and project lifecycle processes.
  • Develop and maintain broad knowledge of industry standards, best practices, regulations, and technologies.
  • Attend webinars, read case studies, and participate in other opportunities to refine skills and stay apprised on business analysis and project management topics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Organizational Development, Behavioral Psychology, Business or related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience establishing and implementing organizational change management and support.
  • Experience working with consulting resources preferred.
  • Experience with higher education, larger medical center or large complex and distributed enterprise preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including active listening and the ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong group facilitation skills with demonstrated experience turning working session notes into high-quality deliverables.
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a wide array of stakeholders, colleagues and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with and through others.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
  • Strong organizational problem solving and root cause identification skills.

Salary/Compensations
