About the Role
The extern will shadow the preceptor when performing administrative and clinical tasks, with patient permission. This role involves assisting with patient flow, room preparation, and understanding imaging workflows and safety policies.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient flow
- Greet and escort patient throughout the facility with patient’s permission
- Serve as a liaison between the patient and the imaging team
- Restock supplies
- Proper handling of medical equipment
- Assist with room and equipment prep before/after imaging study
- Review screening questionnaire if applicable
- Position patient
- Set proper technical factors
- Administer radiation
- Understand Radiology workflows, metrics, process
- Practice Patient/Staff Experience initiatives
- Learn the QA Program and radiation safety policies
- Learn Quality Control documentation
