About the Role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks a Social Media Intern to support the Development Team in New York and New Jersey. This role will focus on growing the organization's social media presence to enhance awareness, drive fundraising efforts, and engage new audiences, ultimately contributing to the IRC's mission of helping individuals impacted by conflict and disaster.
Responsibilities
- Promote IRC’s work in New York and New Jersey to raise funding, engage supporters, and raise awareness.
- Create engaging content for major social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Youtube.
- Brainstorm ideas for social media projects and opportunities.
- Schedule content for optimal publication times on social media.
- Monitor social media channels and activities.
- Curate social media content for events, campaigns, and other projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be based in the U.S.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have U.S. work authorization.
- Must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution or have graduated within the last 2 years.
- Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Master's Program, or graduated within the last 2 years.
- Experience working with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Youtube platforms.
- Familiarity with graphic design software or other tools for creating social media content.
- Ability to work in person in New York City or Elizabeth (NJ) at least 1 day per week.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
