About the Role
The Art Teacher is a dedicated and goal-oriented professional who develops and provides engaging and rigorous instruction. This individual regularly evaluates student progress to drive academic progress.
Responsibilities
- Executes the mission of LEEP Dual Language Academy
- Believes that every child can and will achieve high academic standards, and provides consistent support to our students no matter how challenging the individual situation may be.
- Consistently reflects on self, as well as instructional practices, to achieve these academic goals
- Invest several hours per week in professional learning, including personalized instructional coaching, lesson study, co-planning, book study groups and other learning work
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned science lessons that integrate hands-on experiments, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications.
- Analyze student performance data to inform instruction, provide targeted interventions, and track progress toward mastery of grade-level content and testing benchmarks.
- Design and implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and school leadership to ensure curriculum alignment, pacing, and consistency in test preparation strategies.
- Maintain strong classroom management and cultivate a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports academic risk-taking and persistence.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, test preparation, and strategies for supporting learning at home.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen content knowledge, instructional practices, and assessment readiness strategies.
- Plans student learning and individual achievements based on long and short-term goals, and program objectives
- Analyze assessment data and use it to inform and differentiate your instruction
- Maintain close relationships with families, including phone calls and conferences
- Selects and uses effective instructional methods and learning materials
- Establishes a cooperative relationship with all assigned students
- Manages the classroom in a positive manner and keeps students on task through the use of Responsive Classroom practices
- Attends, participates, and facilitates team meetings and professional development opportunities, as well as common planning times
- Prepares, administers, and reviews all required student assessments
- Meets regular and predictable attendance requirements
- Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate by the Principal
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 1-3 years of elementary teaching experience.
- Valid NYS Teaching Certification or currently on the pathway to certification required.
- Fluency in English and Spanish languages.
- Firm commitment to student academic progress.
- Motivation to work as part of a team and possess a strong sense of personal responsibility.
- Ability and desire to receive and implement feedback from the leadership team and colleagues to drive professional growth.
- Some weekends and evenings are required.
