About the Role
In Flight, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve their life goals and support a meaningful quality of life. This role involves directly assisting individuals with daily living activities to ensure they experience the best possible quality of life in a safe, clean, and predictable environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a shift of staff members to perform to their best ability.
- Delegate duties and oversee team members, including monitoring work performance, time, and attendance.
- Assist with staff orientation and training.
- Apply knowledge from training in Medication Administration, Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R), First Aid, and CPR.
- Ensure menus are created and staff prepare meals as directed.
- Maintain the residence in a clean, hygienic, orderly, and safe manner by identifying and rectifying concerns.
- Follow procedures for notifying appropriate personnel of significant events.
- Monitor and ensure quality care by developing activity schedules and assigning staff.
- Assist with the evaluation of staff work performance.
- Assist with staff orientation, training, and maintaining positive morale.
- Contribute to the upkeep of the residence through scheduled cleaning and maintenance chores.
- Encourage individual independence and participation in choices.
- Engage individuals in recreation, social, and skill-building interactions.
- Create and post activity and goal schedules and ensure they are followed.
- Complete all required paperwork and document appropriately in data books, res hab, logbooks, and medication records.
- Ensure all data collection is documented before the end of the shift.
- Adhere to the agency’s mission and core values.
- Display a professional and cooperative attitude when interacting with individuals, providers, family, guardians, community members, and day program staff.
- Interact in a professional, positive, and cooperative manner with all team members.
- Communicate concerns to the Residential Coordinator or administrator-on-call.
- Perform duties as directed by the Residential Coordinator or administration.
- Provide direct support services, including basic services such as food, clothing, hygiene, and other activities of daily living.
- Provide active treatment through implementation of goals, behavior plans, and services.
- Transport and/or accompany individuals on appointments or to scheduled activities.
- Develop and maintain a supportive yet normalizing relationship with all individuals.
- Remain awake and alert for the duration of the scheduled work shift.
- Follow and comply with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals Code of Ethics.
- Follow policy and procedures for incidents and alleged abuse reporting.
Requirements
- Exhibit good leadership ability and positive role modeling.
- Give directives and follow up to ensure task completion.
- Possess effective oral, math, and written skills in English.
- Have the physical ability to lift individuals with assistance and implement physical interventions.
- Work independently and use common sense.
- Work positively within a team environment.
- Attend all required annual training courses within the allowable timeframe.
- Become and maintain med certified status.
- Become and maintain van certified status.
- Adhere to Agency Attendance Policy.
- Learn and follow established policies and procedures of the agency.
- Work extra hours, including overnight coverage, to maintain minimum staff coverage.
- Follow all safety procedures set by the Agency.
- Pass all NYS Justice Center Background Check Requirements and Physical.

Salary/Compensations
- $21.50 - $24.00 per hour
- Increases based on experience and education
