About the Role

As part of HDR's Building Engineering Services Group, you'll help design the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. Your work will directly support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience, defining the future of the built environment.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in modelling efforts using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to optimize building designs, deliver key insights, and solve unique and complicated challenges.
  • Build relationships within the HDR matrix and understand where CFD modelling can be applied to solve technical problems.
  • Assist in project execution, including optimizing facility design with a focus on Data Centre modelling and fire simulation for underground structures.
  • Assess the development and deployment of computational modelling tools and capability for analyzing and delivering high-performance building environments.
  • Support proposal development for CFD scope.
  • Develop detailed energy models with eQuest or other simulation software.
  • Work within the architectural design process.
  • Travel out of state as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems and controls.
  • Experience working within the architectural design process.
  • Understanding of energy-efficient commercial lighting systems.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Experience Level

  • A minimum of 5 years of CFD modelling experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of modelling experience with the Cadence Reality (6Sigma), Ansys Fluent, or FDS / PyroSim software.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience.

Education Level

  • Engineering / Energy / Physics / Mathematics related bachelor’s degree, or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • CFD / Engineering / Physics / Mathematics related master's degree, or equivalent in a relevant subject (desirable).
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering or closely related field.
