About the Role
The Core Objects team is seeking a Staff Fullstack Engineer to drive the architecture, scalability, and performance of a complex, high-scale backend system. This role involves supporting the development of new data objects, optimizing performance and cost, and shaping the evolution of core data structures. The team extensively integrates AI into its workflow, leveraging agentic tools for development and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build large-scale systems and services that handle massive data volumes and complex workloads in real time.
- Extend the high-scale ingestion pipeline to ingest new and advanced data objects.
- Own and continuously improve the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of complex backend systems behind Braze's core data objects.
- Lead by example and mentor engineers on best practices in software design, coding, and operations.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure core data systems are effectively integrated and aligned with business objectives.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve systems, research new technologies, and advocate for their adoption.
- Support and refine operational procedures, including alerts, on-call rotation, and troubleshooting playbooks, to maximize system stability and quality.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on work in full-stack development or back-end services.
- Proven track record of building foundational data-driven systems at scale (streaming, real-time pipelines, or large-scale data platforms).
- Skilled at driving architectural direction, scoping large efforts, and effectively managing technical debt.
- Precise communication of complex technical concepts.
- Willingness to drive major technical initiatives.
- Deep understanding of software design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Great communication and organizational skills.
- History of thriving in team environments.
- Passionate about customer experience.

- On Target Earnings (OTE) between CA$ 244,000.00 and CA$ 298,400/year (Ontario)
