About the Role
The Actuarial Analyst will be pivotal in shaping the company’s underwriting and developing an understanding of its current and future trajectory. This role is for a self-driven individual excited to uncover insights and make key strategic decisions to shape HIC’s fiscal year and future trajectory.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the review and publication of internal rate studies and ad hoc reports.
- Work with internal claims stakeholders to review reports and certain trends.
- Assist in preparing the company’s rate filings.
- Review reserving studies.
- Craft future business opportunities.
- Work with finance stakeholders to assist with reinsurance cession determinations.
- Interact with external actuary firms, reinsurance partners, and regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with various Company leadership team members.
Requirements
- Advanced Excel User
- Self-starter
- Team player
- Knowledge of actuarial concepts like frequency and severity
- Has passed some CAS Exams or propensity to be versed in actuarial science
- Heavy R user or willingness to learn R, with a projection to transfer away from R to a more widely used comparable language
- Comfortable with Python, R, SQL, Excel/VBA, and working with big data sets
- Reserving and pricing experience
- Proactive, able to take ownership of this role, and grow alongside the Company
