About the Role

Comunilife is seeking dedicated Maintenance Specialists to join our team across New York City. For over 25 years, we have provided supportive housing for individuals with serious mental illness and chronic medical conditions. Full-time employees are eligible for our comprehensive benefits package and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Monitor interior and exterior facility entrances for cleanliness, including snow removal and hazardous condition management.
• Complete assigned work orders efficiently and proficiently.
• Interact with clients in a pleasant and respectful manner.
• Assist with fire safety, evacuation drills, procedures, and training.
• Report unusual occurrences or rule violations to direct supervisor or management.
• Perform cleaning duties to maintain building hygiene standards, including care of floors, bathrooms, and public areas.
• Troubleshoot and perform repairs such as painting, patching, sheet rocking, light plumbing, basic electrical work, lighting maintenance, lock repair, floor tile work, general carpentry, and HVAC system cleaning.

Requirements

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to frequently walk, stand, push, pull, climb stairs and ladders.
• Ability to bend, carry goods including furniture, supplies, and equipment.
• Ability to exert medium to heavy physical effort.
• 2 or more years of maintenance experience preferred.
• Must understand verbal and written instructions in English.
• Driver's License required with a clean record for some locations.

Skills

• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
