About the Role
The Assistant Program Director of Day Services supports the overall operation and quality assurance of the Day Habilitation Program, including oversight of programming, staff supervision, facility maintenance, and regulatory compliance. The role assumes full program responsibility in the absence of the Program Director.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous on-site leadership of the Day Services Program.
- Ensure quality programming that meets participant needs.
- Safeguard the health, safety, rights, and well-being of all program participants.
- Oversee maintenance of a clean, safe, and functional facility.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained, safely used, and meet inspection standards.
- Adhere to policies and procedures governing day-to-day operations.
- Ensure effective functioning of the Program Planning Team process.
- Oversee compliance with billing, attendance, and documentation policies.
- Verify daily group assignments to ensure appropriate staffing.
- Monitor documentation compliance.
- Support implementation of the site-specific Quality Assurance (QA) Plan.
- Assist in the completion for incident follow-ups and audit responses.
- Assist in managing internal fiscal systems, including petty cash and inventory control.
- Participate in hiring and orientation of new staff.
- Conduct regular observations of program activities and meals.
- Ensure staff complete required trainings.
- Ensure ongoing supervision and timely completion of staff evaluations.
- Maintain systems for regulatory compliance and documentation accuracy.
- Ensure participants are clean, safe, and supervised at all times.
- Provide crisis intervention and counseling when necessary.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of participant information.
- Ensure timely reporting and resolution of all incidents and serious reportable events.
- Advocate for participants.
- Participate in relevant internal and external meetings, committees, and professional groups.
- Model appropriate behavior and professionalism.
- Enforce HeartShare’s dress code.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of managerial/supervisory experience required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Extensive knowledge of OPWDD Programs required.
Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly energetic, focused and accountable.
- Ability to work well with all levels of staff.
