About the Role
RWDI is seeking a Monitoring Systems Technician to join our Equipment team. This role involves remote health checks, preparation and testing of monitoring systems, installation and maintenance of monitoring systems, site investigations, record keeping, and data processing. Comprehensive training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform remote health checks of monitors via WEB platforms.
- Prepare and bench test attended and unattended noise, vibration, and air quality monitoring systems.
- Install, perform planned maintenance, and decommission external unattended monitoring systems.
- Conduct ad-hoc site investigations to diagnose and remedy equipment faults.
- Maintain site records and databases.
- Consult with Equipment Suppliers for equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Download, process, and assess environmental monitoring data remotely.
- Prepare weekly and monthly environmental monitoring reports.
- Provide general support to the in-house team of consultants.
- Receive comprehensive training for attended monitoring at sites where primary activities need to be observed and sample measurements need to be obtained.
Requirements
- Grade 6+ or higher in GCSE Maths, English, and Science.
- Knowledge and experience of environmental monitoring is an advantage.
- Clean full driving licence.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good numeracy and IT skills with an understanding of general computer software packages including Microsoft Office.
- Good problem-solving and practical skills.
- Ability to work outdoors throughout the year.
- Good customer service skills and commercial awareness.
- Enthusiastic, conscientious, reliable, and punctual.
- Self-motivated, organised with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Interest in technology and how things work.
- Desire to consistently improve and develop.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Advanced level Microsoft Excel and Word capabilities.
- Intermediate level user of SoundPLAN, CadnaA, NoiseMap, Odeon, and Insul or similar software.
- Intermediate level user of AutoCAD and reading Engineering Drawings.
- Intermediate level user of ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar GIS package.
