About the Role

Helio Health is dedicated to treating and promoting recovery from substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. This Substance Use Disorder Counselor position is a Full-Time role based at the Syracuse Opioid Treatment Program (OTP). Full-Time hires are eligible for a Sign-On Incentive up to $3,000.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of patients seeking treatment for substance use and/or mental health disorders.
• Perform essential counseling responsibilities including screening, intake and orientation, assessment, evaluation and intervention, treatment planning, referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, patient education, case management, reporting and record keeping.
• Participate in program, administrative and clinical committees as assigned.
• Relate effectively with staff, clients, and community while upholding confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; associates or bachelors preferred.
• CASAC-T required or CASAC-P eligible.
• One year counseling experience preferred.
• Equivalent alternative combination of education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.
• Knowledge of addiction/recovery, behavioral health, self-help group process and principles of counseling.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications.
