About the Role
Dexterra Group is seeking an Electrician to analyze electrical drawings, troubleshoot, repair, and install components of normal and emergency power systems. This role involves installing electrical circuits, conduits, wiring, and various electrical equipment, ensuring all installations meet safety and code requirements. The position also includes performing weekly tests on emergency generators and implementing preventive maintenance programs for a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and instructions to troubleshoot, repair, and replace/install components of normal and emergency power systems (up to 600V).
- Install electrical circuits, all types of electrical equipment and appliances, including grounding leads, lighting fixtures, life safety systems, and other circuits.
- Measure, cut, thread, and install electrical conduits, pulling wiring through conduits, holes in walls, and floors.
- Ensure conduit penetrations through floors or fire separation walls are sealed with fire-retarded sealant.
- Splice, join, and connect wires to fixtures, power equipment, and components.
- Mount motors, transformers, and light fixtures into position and complete circuits according to drawings and specifications.
- Perform weekly test runs of emergency diesel generators in coordination with building operators.
- Inspect lighting systems, emergency power systems, alarm systems, HVAC systems, medical equipment, and patient's electrical devices.
- Trace, inspect, and test circuits, instruments, and faulty operations.
- Isolate and repair sources of trouble and faults in electrical systems, electrical equipment, and control devices.
- Replace and/or repair faulty components including switches, sockets, ballasts, light bulbs/tubes, and other simple elements of electrical systems.
- Implement scheduled preventive maintenance programs for power equipment (transformers, breakers, disconnects, capacitor banks, switchgears), HVAC equipment (motors, VFDs, controls, sensors), medical gas systems, alarm systems, communication systems, and medical equipment.
- Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe work area.
- Ensure proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
