About the Role
This is a hands-on, bench-focused role where you will produce RNA reagents and run cell-based assays to evaluate their performance. The ideal candidate is a versatile experimentalist skilled in in vitro transcription (IVT), mammalian cell culture, and end-to-end cell-based assays. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the company's core experimental engine.
Responsibilities
- Produce research-grade RNA by in vitro transcription (IVT) at routine cadence and scale, including template preparation, transcription, capping and tailing, DNase treatment, and purification.
- Release RNA material against defined quality specifications.
- Perform RNA quality control (concentration, purity, and integrity) using spectrophotometry, fluorometry, and electrophoretic/capillary methods.
- Maintain mammalian cell lines and disease-relevant models, ensuring assay-ready cells are available on schedule.
- Deliver PRINT RNA into cells via transfection, lipofection, and electroporation/nucleofection across multiple cell types.
- Execute readout assays including reporter assays, ELISA, qPCR/ddPCR, flow cytometry, and high-content imaging.
- Analyze, plot, and document results clearly in the electronic lab notebook, flagging anomalies and contributing to troubleshooting.
- Support assay optimization and modest throughput scale-up, including work with liquid-handling automation.
- Assist with lab operations, including reagent and consumable inventory, sample and reagent tracking, and instrument upkeep.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Approximately 2–5 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with industry experience preferred.
- Strong, current mammalian cell culture skills, including sterile technique, maintenance of multiple cell lines, and transfection.
- Hands-on molecular biology experience, including RNA handling and RNase-free technique.
- Demonstrated reliability, organization, and attention to detail, producing reproducible data and documenting it clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate results to a cross-functional team.
