About the Role

Advanced Dermatology, P.C. is seeking a Part-Time Medical Receptionist for our West 86th Street office. Medical Receptionists perform a variety of duties to support the medical staff and their patients. They are the main liaisons of a medical facility, interacting with patients and medical staff. They act as mediators in communication. Their duties include greeting visitors, maintaining appointments, and providing directions to people in person and on the phone. The Medical Receptionist may also perform clerical work and distribute information to medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients on the telephone and answer inquiries or refer questions to other staff members.
  • Schedule appointments for physicians and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms.
  • Confirm all appointments prior to the date of service.
  • Verify insurance and inform the patient of needed referrals before the date of service.
  • Assist patients with copayments and billing questions.
  • Retrieve patient's files in EMR, verify the information on file, and insert new patient record forms and information.
  • Protect patient's rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
  • Maintain reception area in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Participate in the medical office emergency routine when required.
  • Summon ambulance or EMS or assist other staff members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience working as a medical receptionist (dermatology experience strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Friendly and compassionate disposition with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records.

Skills

  • EMA experience is a plus!
