About the Role
The Head of Clinical Development Diagnostic Drugs is responsible for the overall leadership of the Clinical Development function within Radiology R&D, contributing to the overarching vision and strategy. This role ensures sustainable success by defining, planning, and executing the global drug development strategy for contrast media and molecular imaging tracers. A critical focus is providing oversight of current development candidates, driving Due Diligence for in-licensing opportunities, and representing Radiology externally with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Act as a VACC (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) leader, championing the DSO operating model and behaviors.
- Contribute to the overall Radiology vision and global strategy as a member of the Radiology R&D LT.
- Oversee early and late clinical development (Phase I & IIa, Phases IIb & III, and life cycle management) across the Diagnostic Drugs portfolio.
- Lead the clinical development execution for in-licensed molecular imaging tracers.
- Conduct clinical and scientific Due Diligences for Business Development & Licensing (BD&L) activities.
- Lead and coach a team of Global Clinical Leaders.
- Design, conduct, and report early and late-stage clinical studies.
- Contribute to medical and scientific dialogue with global regulatory health authorities.
- Oversee the scientific and medical interpretation of clinical research data and benefit-risk profiles.
- Provide expert medical and scientific input to R&D teams on strategic drug development decisions.
- Ensure a state-of-the-art product development strategy for efficient drug approval and competitive market positioning.
- Foster positive development of the pipeline's net present value (NPV) and optimize resource utilization.
Requirements
- University degree of M.D., or Ph.D. in pharmacy, life sciences, or equivalent background.
- Post-doctoral training or specialized clinical training (e.g., Radiology, Nuclear Medicine) is highly appreciated.
- Recognized contributions (talks, open source, publications/patents) in MLOps/LLMOps, platform engineering, or applied AI.
- Medical / Scientific expertise with a deep understanding of diagnostic imaging, specifically Contrast Media and Molecular Imaging/Radiopharmaceuticals.
- Longstanding relevant professional experience in R&D and clinical development within the Health Care industry.
- International experience in Europe and North America is preferred.
- Proven track record in conducting rigorous clinical Due Diligences and evaluating external assets for in-licensing.
- Outstanding track record of leading teams and managing Global Clinical Leaders within agile or matrixed environments.
- Strong aptitude to set a vision for an organization, develop corresponding strategies, and mobilize employees.
- Ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
- Seasoned VACC leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, catalyse cross-functional teams, and coach individuals.
- Thrives at dealing with ambiguity and overcoming complexity in a challenging multi-national environment.
- Remains current with rapidly changing regulatory and market access environments.
- Leans into change and possesses the ability to effectively work in an international and multicultural environment.
- Established ability to build effective relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, payers, and health authorities.

- Fluent English skills.
- Fluent in German is preferred.

Salary/Compensations
- 138’200 € and 175’200 € per year (full-time) plus a variable component and a global equity-based cash plan.
