About the Role

The Commercial Manager is responsible for supporting the creation of BOA Japan Commercial plans, and leading and developing the regional Commercial team to successfully execute these plans and build deep strategic relationships and partnerships with our brand partners. This role works closely with global Commercial, Marketing and Product teams to ensure regional plans align with global strategy, goals, and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Reflect and role model BOA’s values and Leadership Model across the Japan team and global organization.
  • Build deep partnerships with Japan Brand Partners and key global Brand Partners distributing in Japan to achieve goals for market share/model penetration, brand standards and amplification, retail education, and building a local BOA community.
  • Lead, coach and develop the team in all aspects of working with Brand Partners to drive performance and strategically integrate BOA Performance Fit System configurations into their product design.
  • Work with direct reports to set and review performance/development goals, discuss feedback regularly, and formally summarize during performance reviews.
  • Support and provide input into company and functional operating plans, and create and own the execution of local Commercial strategy and operating plans.
  • Lead Japan Commercial team in meeting brand partners’ needs related to product line development support, sampling timelines, sales meeting support, production support, and meeting required deadlines.
  • Obtain and organize all brand partner feedback, including sales and marketing information/insights, in a cohesive network location for customer communications and internal information sharing.
  • Communicate in a clear and timely manner any changes in BOA’s brand partner landscape that impact commercial plans or brand partner engagement plans.
  • Drive creation, execution and maintenance of segment forecasts and sales plans to provide and occasionally present formal monthly and quarterly market business reviews to senior leadership.
  • Ensure teams follow the organization’s policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (ideally in business or a related field of study).
  • Previous sales and marketing experience in Sports, Outdoor, or Workwear is a strong plus, but an understanding and passion for these industries is also welcome.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience that includes mentoring, coaching and developing talent.
  • Strong understanding of brand development, retail and ecommerce, and product creation process.
  • Experience leading performance-based teams and partnering with regional / global teams.
  • Proven experience effectively building and executing plans through and with teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse groups of people across the globe.
  • Proficiency in both Japanese and English required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally (up to 25%).
  • Regularly works in an office-based environment that is mostly comprised of sitting, and use of standard office equipment.
