About the Role

Functions as a senior-level healthcare provider with an independent outpatient schedule, contributing to the education and training of nurse practitioners, department QA & QI initiatives, and operational strategy optimization.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for direct patient care on an outpatient and/or inpatient service.
• Cares for complex patients within specialty consistent with education, training, and practice protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Trains and orients new nurse practitioners, providing education on new equipment and techniques.
• Develop and implement Quality Assurance and Quality improvement initiatives.
• Contributes to the optimization of operational strategies.
• Contributes to improvements in workflows and patient care services.
• Evaluates new and/or established patients by obtaining comprehensive and focused health histories and performing physical examinations.
• Orders labs, imaging, diagnostic testing, and consultations, and interprets results to develop patient care plans.
• Prescribes medications and therapeutic interventions following accepted standards of care and practice guidelines.
• Performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures depending on department and training.
• Enters patient information into medical records according to documentation best practices.
• Counsels and educates patients and their support systems on disease management, prevention, and health promotion, ensuring culturally competent care.
• Confers with specialists, physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and optimize patient outcomes.
• Assists in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols when applicable.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as determined by patient and practice needs.

Requirements

• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in specialty at the nurse practitioner level.
• Evidence of strong leadership potential.

• Team oriented individual that works collaboratively to achieve team goals.
