About the Role
The Enterprise Data Solutions & Operations (EDSO) team is seeking a Head of Data Solutions to collaborate with business value streams, define, shape, and lead the delivery of data product solutions. This role will drive the capture and planning for new demand, manage strategic data initiatives, and direct data stewards to ensure data quality and metadata capture.
Responsibilities
- Engage in business value stream counseling, developing relationships with stakeholders and consulting on how data can enable business processes.
- Lead decisioning, prioritization, and ideation meetings related to new data/info products and data service delivery.
- Maintain a data product and info product roadmap supported by technical capabilities.
- Capture demand and respond to emergent needs from business value stream partners.
- Educate business partners on the optimal use of data assets and provide feedback on data solution usage.
- Serve as the primary owner of FPRS/CSWM value stream data product strategy and manage the roadmap for enhancements and new capabilities.
- Oversee the agile delivery of new data sources and products, establishing features, business rules, and test conditions.
- Contribute to the evaluation of proposed tools, technologies, and platforms from a business perspective.
- Contribute to ongoing delivery/capacity planning, ensuring value stream needs are appropriately resourced.
- Manage testing, both directly and through coordination with key business SMEs.
- Partner with value stream leaders to co-drive data solution adoption, ensuring change management and training needs are met.
- Ensure solutions adhere to industry regulations, data security standards, and organizational policies.
- Monitor and mitigate risks related to solution implementation.
- Direct data stewards to collect, maintain, and troubleshoot critical data element metadata and data quality.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience with escalating competency in data and analytic solutions.
- 3+ years working in an agile environment.
- 3+ years of experience managing staff/teams, preferably with geographically diverse teams in a highly matrixed product delivery environment.
- 5+ years of experience with standard program management tools (e.g., JIRA, AgileCraft, ATIIM) and desktop collaboration/ideation tools (e.g., Sharepoint, MSOffice, OneDrive, Lucid, Draw.io).
- Experience in life insurance and wealth management products and industry is preferred.
- Experience with enterprise data management principles such as data ownership/stewardship.
- Ability to document and capture business requirements in detail, including metric calculation logic, quality/timeliness expectations, analytic functionality, hierarchies, and functional user journeys.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple stakeholders, align interests, and lead workshops.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and drive teams to meet aggressive delivery commitments.
- Proactive problem-solving and information research skills.
- Ability to manage/mentor earlier tenure and/or less experienced staff.
- Ability to accept change in stride, remaining flexible due to changing business needs/priorities.
- Ability to coach business partners on optimal use of data assets.
- Comfort with/knowledge of analytic tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Databricks, SQL.
- Deep knowledge/experience with data lakehouse principles and data management tooling (e.g., Databricks, Fivetran, Collibra, SQL/SparkSQL/Python).
- Ability to see the “big picture” and influence/engage others to meet common goals.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
