About the Role

The Principal Counsel – Corporate manages the legal aspects of Harbour Energy's corporate and finance activities, acting as a key business partner and contributor to the company's corporate & finance strategy. This role involves advising and influencing key business leaders, supporting the Chief Corporate Legal & Compliance Officer on global disputes and litigation, and providing legal counsel to various corporate functions.

Responsibilities

Manage legal aspects relating to corporate and finance activities.
Act as a business partner and contributor to corporate & finance strategy.
Advise and influence key business leaders.
Support the Chief Corporate Legal & Compliance Officer on global disputes & litigation.
Advise and support Corporate Finance, Investor Relations, Tax, M&A, M&T, HR, IS, Corporate Supply Chain, and other corporate functions.
Mentor and contribute to the professional development of the Legal team.
Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, legislation, and HSES Procedures.
Ensure all activities and behaviors align with Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures.
Complete compulsory compliance training.
Serve as the focal point expert for legal matters within the sphere of responsibility.
Provide leadership, advice, and guidance to the Chief Corporate Legal & Compliance Officer and the Leadership Team.
Provide expert legal advice on all corporate & financing matters globally.
Communicate applicable legal and regulatory policies, processes, and procedures.
Oversee resource delivery to achieve company goals, strategies, and priorities.
Draft, negotiate, and review corporate, financing, and commercial agreements.
Proactively handle various matters through to resolution.
Manage external legal advisors within budget and to the required quality.
Contribute to the delivery of the Harbour scorecard, managing legal risks and commercial opportunities.
Guide, mentor, and manage legal professionals, providing advice and encouragement.

Requirements

Qualified English law or Scottish law solicitor or barrister with strong academic credentials and experience.
Proven ability to build credibility quickly with high emotional intelligence.
Ability to communicate with impact.
Ability to build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
Ability to work effectively in a developing business environment and strategic growth.
