About the Role

Lead the Property Services organization Safety Programs, including Emergency Action Planning (EAP), Shelter-In-Place (SIP), Business Continuity, Fire Life Safety, emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, contractor safety oversight, and related corporate safety initiatives. Develop, maintain, implement, and continuously improve safety and emergency management programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and industry best practices. Act as the single point of contact for emergency preparedness, life safety compliance, business continuity planning, and corporate safety audits across the Property Services New York business territory.

Responsibilities

Translate National Grid US Emergency Planning policies and create Emergency Action Plan (EAP) standard operating processes and procedures for all Property Services locations.
Develop, maintain, and conduct annual reviews of all EAPs and create tracking and reporting dashboards to validate program compliance.
Create, maintain, implement, and conduct annual reviews of the Shelter-In-Place (SIP) program.
Work with Fire Wardens, Facilities Management, Communications teams, and site leadership to coordinate, manage, and execute fire drills and emergency exercises.
Work with the US Property Services teams to translate National Grid Business Continuity objectives into operating processes and procedures.
Audit and review existing Emergency Plans, Shelter-In-Place Plans, Business Continuity Plans, processes, and procedures.
Monitor and track a variety of activities such as maintenance of databases, delivery of training, emergency exercises, fire drills, compliance documentation, corrective actions, program progress, and emergency planning event schedules.
Routinely review Fire Life Safety Policy to ensure alignment with government requirements and National Grid standards.
Conduct audits and maintain inventories of Emergency Evacuation Maps located throughout facilities.
Coordinate with Facilities Management and JLL to identify, document, and maintain inventories of all confined spaces within National Grid facilities.
Audit JLL compliance programs and the JLL Azara platform to verify adherence to National Grid policies, inspection schedules, corrective action requirements, and safety procedures.
Conduct facility safety audits to verify required building identification labels, emergency signage, life safety markings, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) location signage are properly installed, maintained, visible, and compliant with applicable standards.
Develop and maintain program dashboards, scorecards, tracking tools, and compliance reports to provide leadership visibility into program effectiveness, audit performance, corrective actions, and overall safety readiness.

Requirements

Degree qualified with knowledge (Degree preferred in Emergency Management) and 5 years’ experience with fields relating to Business Continuity, Corporate Safety and Emergency Planning.
Ability to apply and modify theories and learned concepts appropriately.
Experience of managing the work of a project with a similar size impact and preferably a project team.
Ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the regulatory issues affecting the industry.
Ability to anticipate obstacles and think ahead about next steps.
Ability to network internally and externally and to develop successful, long-lasting business relationships / partnerships.
Proven program management ability to create, train and maintain similar programs across a large organization.
Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word to develop, maintain and report on program.
Ability to develop training modules and present / train groups via remote and live meetings.
Ability to interact with Subject Matter Experts in this field and interpret and execute the overall program.
Ability to understand and take ownership of these programs and to act as the single point of contact, drive these programs and act with very little day to day direction / supervision.
Ability to proactively develop positive stakeholder relationships at all levels of the business.
Familiarity with Microsoft Sharepoint.
Travel throughout UNY & DNY required.

Upstate NY: $115,000.00 - $135,000.00 USD
Downstate NY: $134,000.00 - $158,000.00 USD
