About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the MarTech Engineering Team, you'll be a forward-deployed engineer embedded in the marketing organization, building production AI agents that solve real campaign, content, social, ABM, and performance problems. You'll work closely with marketing domain experts to understand their workflows and systems, turning their expertise into agents that go live and stay live. Your responsibilities span the full lifecycle, from rapid prototyping and validating ideas with SMEs to building integrations and skills for pilot programs, and hardening these into production-grade agents. You will also identify and translate missing requirements for underlying marketing systems, data plumbing, and AI tooling to the partner platform team. This role sits at the intersection of domain expertise and platform infrastructure, ensuring seamless collaboration. Success is measured by the volume and quality of marketing work performed by agents in production, demonstrating their trustworthiness and impact on global marketing operations.
Responsibilities
- Embed with marketing SMEs across campaigns, property marketing, content production, social, ABM, and performance intelligence to design and ship agents that do real work in their day-to-day
- Build, deploy, and operate production marketing AI agents that reason over regional context, brand guidelines, and intent data — and invoke tools to draft content, configure campaigns, monitor performance, and recommend optimizations
- Build and contribute reusable components to the Marketing Domain Skills Library — composable LLM workflows (drafting, scoring, classification, brand-voice tuning) extracted from live agent work as primitives other agents can call
- Build integrations against marketing systems (CMS, DAM, CRM, marketing automation, ad platforms, analytics) — directly when needed to unblock a pilot, and through Marketing MCP servers built by the platform team once those exist
- Translate integration and capability gaps encountered during pilots into clear, prioritized requirements for the platform team, ensuring the platform layer evolves to meet real agent needs
- Own reliability, observability, evaluation, and cost efficiency of the LLM-powered workflows, including brand-voice checks, factual grounding against property and client data, regression suites, and offline benchmarks wired into CI/CD
- Contribute to multi-agent orchestration patterns for agents, defining composition, boundaries, and escalation flows
- Follow and help refine the pod's playbook for taking an agent from SME conversation to working pilot to deployed production agent
- Share learnings through internal write-ups to sharpen team practices and onboarding
- Stay current on agent engineering practices and apply useful techniques
- Experiment and tackle ambiguous, complex problems within your area of ownership
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment
- 3+ years of software engineering experience working in production systems, including meaningful time integrating against enterprise APIs (CRMs, CMSes, DAMs, ad platforms, marketing automation tools, analytics)
- Hands-on experience with modern LLM APIs across providers — including prompt engineering, tool use / function calling, structured outputs, and context engineering
- Experience with agent system components: multi-step reasoning, tool orchestration, memory, error recovery, and human-in-the-loop escalation paths
- Experience with the challenges of agent engineering: hallucination grounding, tool reliability, silent failures, evaluating real-world behavior, cost and latency tradeoffs, prompt drift, and long-term functionality
- Exposure to RAG systems — embeddings, vector stores, retrieval optimization, and grounding
- Experience deploying LLM-powered services or agents to production cloud environments and understanding operational realities (auth, networking, secrets, observability, rollback, cost monitoring)
- Ability to embed directly with non-technical domain experts, translate vague problem statements into shippable scope, and learn unfamiliar domains deeply
- Pragmatic bias for shipping; ability to determine when a brittle workaround is appropriate versus when something needs to be built correctly the first time
- Effective communication across technical levels — from explaining agent failure modes to non-technical SMEs, to discussing architectural tradeoffs with leads, to detailing protocol specifics with platform engineers
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate in dynamic, product-focused, distributed teams
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and willingness to acquire new skills and knowledge
- Comfort taking ownership of projects from start to finish and turning nebulous ideas into reality
- Ability to make coworkers feel included in every interaction
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
