About the Role
This role is a 2nd Line of Defense function responsible for overseeing internal and third-party examinations management, establishing an effective control environment, and managing credit process maintenance to ensure compliance with policy and credit risk requirements for RESL and other retail products. It involves managing responses to governance inquiries and providing effective challenge to 1st Line of Defense processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, coaching, and day-to-day guidance to a team of two.
- Manage and provide oversight for key enterprise programs, including Records Management, Business Managed Technology, and Business Continuity Management.
- Lead internal and third-party examinations and audit engagements.
- Review and challenge requests for information.
- Develop action plans for deficiencies.
- Monitor deficiencies and report progress to senior management.
- Apply strong knowledge of risk management principles, credit practices, and regulatory expectations.
- Assess, measure, and monitor risk within CIBC guidelines, focusing on residential mortgages and secured and unsecured lending products.
- Prepare clear written materials and effective presentations that translate analysis, recommendations, and business impacts for a range of audiences.
Requirements
- Bring strong risk and credit knowledge.
- Understand credit principles, risk management practices, and regulatory requirements related to residential mortgages, secured lending, and unsecured lending products.
- Be confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, including advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables.
- Be a caring and accountable leader.
