About the Role
Safely transport individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to and from our day habilitation and after-school programs in Brooklyn.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a passenger van on scheduled routes to transport adults and youth with disabilities to and from day programs, after-school programs, and community locations.
- Perform safe passenger assistance, including operating wheelchair lifts (if applicable), and oversee boarding/alighting with care and respect.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the van.
- Follow all state, local, and agency safety procedures, traffic laws, and complete required route documentation.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, program staff, families, and passengers.
Requirements
- Valid standard driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR); no CDL required.
- Punctual, patient, and safety-focused with strong interpersonal skills and empathy.
- Ability to physically assist passengers as needed, manage routes efficiently, and maintain a calm, welcoming environment.
