About the Role

As a Housing Specialist with HELP USA, you will be responsible for helping clients find housing and achieve self-sufficiency. This role involves managing relationships, setting expectations, and guiding clients through the housing search process, including referrals and advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct housing intake and assessment interviews for new residents.
  • Complete the housing portion of the independent living plan, including re-assessments and revisions.
  • Meet regularly with clients to guide their search for permanent and/or supportive housing.
  • Determine client housing needs and barriers, identify qualifying programs, and make referrals.
  • Assist with housing application completion and ensure timely submission.
  • Accompany clients to view apartments and assist with move-ins.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords and attend lease signings.
  • Ensure utilities are turned on and assist with move-out processes.
  • Stay updated on changes to housing subsidy programs and attend relevant trainings.
  • Network to identify and develop new housing resources with brokers and landlords.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team case conferences.
  • Record all housing-related documentation in the case management system.
  • Develop and present housing workshops and arrange forums with outside providers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills.
  • Experience in housing placement services is strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding customer service and conflict management skills.
  • Willingness to coordinate and cooperate as part of a multidisciplinary client service team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to take initiative, be dependable, and resourceful.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities concurrently in a time-sensitive manner.
  • High ethical standards and personal integrity.
  • Commitment to the mission of HELP USA.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft applications required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Valid US Driver’s License is a plus.
