About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious, innovative, and passionate Social Media Manager to lead the Barclays Women's Super League (BWSL) social media presence. This role involves engaging core supporters and attracting new audiences through narrative-led storytelling across core channels like Instagram, Facebook, and X.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day creation and planning of social-first, best-in-class storytelling tailored for English-speaking markets.
  • Oversee daily content output, scheduling, and formatting across the Barclays WSL channels: Instagram, Facebook, and X.
  • Brief and collaborate with video editors and graphic designers to produce high-quality, engaging visual assets.
  • Work closely with the strategy and insights team to analyze performance data and refine content based on algorithmic nuances and platform trends.
  • Drive fan growth and engagement by actively managing and interacting with the WSL’s following.
  • Execute live coverage, real-time updates, and reactive content during game days.
  • Maintain strong relationships and smooth communication between Little Dot Sport, the BWSL, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all international output accurately reflects and elevates the BWSL's identity.
  • Stay ahead of emerging digital trends, platform updates, and content formats to keep the league's international channels competitive and innovative.

Requirements

  • Proficient across major social networks, including Facebook, X, and Instagram.
  • Strong capability in analyzing and reporting platform performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated history of producing and distributing highly engaging, entertaining, and informative content.
  • Deep familiarity with football-related social content and trends.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro, with After Effects knowledge considered an asset.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to confidently communicate and liaise with senior or high-profile stakeholders.
  • Clear understanding of live football match-day cycles and dynamics.
  • Skilled in managing large online communities, facilitating discussions, and delivering reactive content.
  • Experienced in coordinating and briefing creative teams, including editors and designers.
  • Able to execute swift editorial choices in fast-paced environments and clearly outline strategies to stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in social media across sport is a must.
  • Knowledge of the BWSL, its teams, and its players is desirable.
  • Having a deep understanding of content formats and algorithmic nuances across platforms is essential.
  • Weekend and out-of-hours work will be needed in line with the Barclays WSL fixture list.
