About the Role

As a key member of the leadership team at the front end, you’ll work alongside the Department Manager to deliver exceptional service, strong operational performance, and a welcoming shopping experience that reflects Farm Boy’s commitment to fresh, community-focused retail. Through hands-on leadership, financial stewardship, and daily team engagement, you’ll help create an environment where both customers and team members thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service while supporting Farm Boy’s vision of the best fresh shopping experience.
  • Partner with the Department Manager to execute department strategies and help achieve stated goals and performance objectives.
  • Support team development through training, coaching, motivation, and recognition while maintaining a high level of trust, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Lead regular team huddles to share goals, recognize achievements, exchange product knowledge, and provide meaningful feedback to build engagement and connection.
  • Safeguard Farm Boy’s financial assets by supporting safe management, document retention, audits, float tracking, over/short reporting, refund oversight, and other cash-handling controls.
  • Promote awareness, communication, and adherence to company policies and government regulations to ensure a compliant and accountable team environment.
  • Champion all Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe store for customers and team members.
  • Provide hands-on support to daily operations by assisting with cashier coverage, customer service, overrides, schedule maintenance, cart retrieval, and general store cleanliness.
  • Support office and administrative functions, including safe management, cash handling, scheduling, purchasing orders, and payroll processes.
  • Contribute to store success by assisting with other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for delivering engaging and exceptional customer service.
  • Completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment by effectively managing changing priorities while maintaining a high level of performance.
  • Successful completion of Smart Serve certification, or willingness to obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, supported by clear, confident communication and strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Comfort learning and using manual and automated systems, with prior experience working with a variety of computer software programs.
  • Thrive in a hands-on setting that involves extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, repetitive movement or tasks, and work that may be performed in cooler, freezer, and outdoor conditions.
  • Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
