About the Role
This role is for a designated accountant passionate about leveraging large datasets to drive financial integrity, process improvements, and strategic decision-making. You will represent the Finance department in major systems projects, including ERP migrations and implementations, ensuring business requirements are met and robust testing is completed. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, evaluate, and implement new financial systems and enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Represent Finance in systems projects, including identifying, researching, and implementing new financial systems and improving current processes.
- Lead the review of business requirements and oversee user acceptance testing (UAT), including the development of test plans and assisting in progress reporting.
- Analyze large, complex financial datasets to provide actionable insights and recommend appropriate system implementations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS), tax regulations, and internal policies.
- Lead and assist in preparing and implementing ad hoc projects related to financial results planning and reporting.
- Review business processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend optimizations.
- Act as a liaison between Finance, IT, and other business units to resolve system issues and ensure project goals are met.
- Provide month-end system support to the Finance department.
- Assist in managing team deliverables to ensure high-quality work and meet deadlines.
Requirements
- University degree in accounting, commerce, or business administration.
- Canadian accounting designation (CPA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous approach.
- Experience working on financial projects in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Organized, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple work streams effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge of spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel) and word processing.
- Conversant with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- High degree of proficiency with English.
- Successful clearance of a background check (including criminal checks and leadership references).
