About the Role

Adyen is seeking a strategic, hands-on, and creative PR Manager for its Tokyo office. This role will report to the Head of PR & Communications, APAC, and is responsible for developing and executing PR strategies to drive media coverage, manage reputation, and create thought leadership in Japan. The ideal candidate has a strong PR background, understands the tech industry, and excels at balancing strategic and hands-on work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute in-market PR strategies and programs to drive media coverage.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, commercial leads, and senior leadership to craft compelling messaging and local storylines.
  • Ensure alignment with the company's strategic direction across all of Japan’s external communications channels for consistent messaging and positive brand positioning.
  • Enhance efforts to generate favorable opinion about the market in the region and garner local and regional media attention.
  • Collaborate with global and regional communications teams for coordinated, accurate, consistent, and effective content and messages.
  • Manage and own key media relationships in Japan.
  • Manage and direct the local PR agency partner, ensuring alignment on KPIs, strategy execution, and ROI.
  • Co-manage social media presence in relevant Japanese portals and work with the marketing team to establish a social media calendar.
  • Collaborate with the local marketing team to amplify Japan events, product launches, and brand campaigns across earned and owned channels.

Requirements

  • 7 to 10+ years of experience in PR or communications field.
  • Flexible & tenacious with the ability to navigate through ambiguity.
  • Exceptional storytelling and editing skills, comfortable writing, reviewing, and giving feedback on copy.
  • Collaborative nature and team player with a desire to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think ahead, engage proactively, and make great things happen.
  • Successful track record in high tech branding to business audiences.
  • Competent project manager who can drive PR and creative projects from brief to completion.
  • Ability to measure and report on the effectiveness of PR efforts.
  • Excellent command of the Japanese language.
  • Business-level communication skills in English.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 20%+.
