About the Role
As Head of Product, Systems, you will build and manage a product team and culture focused on ensuring our products and user experiences consistently achieve key outcomes: choosers quickly recognize value and purchase products, users find experiences powerful yet simple, and repeat purchases/expansion occur, especially when product-market conditions change. You will partner with other Heads of departments to ensure technology systems balance "Speed and Quality Equally."
Responsibilities
- Own and operate the whole-product evidence system, including VOC, CPT, and CCT standards, research operations, routing decisions, win/loss instrumentation, and measurable outputs.
- Personally moderate customer sessions regularly and run an apprenticeship program for engineers and designers in moderation, note-taking, and ethnography.
- Own the Systems product strategy, coordinating the continuous product strategy across software, data, embedded systems, and testing tools with the hardware counterpart.
- Support closing deals by owning win/loss as product evidence and integrating deal signals into routing with the same discipline as user research.
- Decide deal-specific product commitments, managing the line between serving the market and roadmap-by-anecdote.
- Make fleet telemetry the confirmation layer by partnering with Data and Testing Tools and Frameworks to instrument customer confirmation testing (CCT) on the operating fleet, using P&L as the product's confirmation metric.
- Hire, grow, and level the product management and product design teams.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Hardware-software integrated products or comparably complex multi-disciplinary systems experience, with firsthand experience of the asymmetric cost of being wrong in atoms versus bits.
- 10+ years in product roles, with 4+ years leading product managers and designers, focusing on building a product organization.
- A personal body of customer research measured in hundreds of moderated sessions, with demonstrated ability to teach the craft to non-researchers.
- Direct commercial exposure, including deals personally closed or rescued with traceable product decisions, and a win/loss program that reversed a roadmap decision.
- Quantitative fluency, with experience defining product metrics from raw telemetry or event data to influence work.
- Specific, verifiable examples of evidence reversing a publicly held position.
