About the Role

As a Digital Producer for The Archaeologist's Notebook, you will be a creative force behind the channel, transforming archaeological stories into captivating digital films. You will manage the editorial process from pitch to script delivery, ensuring videos balance factual accuracy with engaging YouTube storytelling to maximize watch time. The role also involves studio production, directing presenters, and managing production flow to deliver high-quality content on time and within budget. This position is ideal for a storyteller skilled in combining scholarly detail with digital entertainment.

Responsibilities

  • Pitching, researching, and writing scripts for presenter-led, studio-based YouTube videos on archaeology.
  • Delivering engaging, entertaining, in-depth scripts for 20-30 minute videos.
  • Identifying, sourcing, and clearing relevant third-party archive materials.
  • Briefing graphics and data visualisations to editors.
  • Acting as producer during in-studio shoot days, ensuring shoots are organised and on schedule.
  • Actioning ad hoc script rewrites during shoots.
  • Working with the wider team to deliver content on time and on budget.
  • Working with the Commercial Partnerships Manager to devise and script brand integrations.
  • Brainstorming and hook-testing script openings with the Channel Manager to maximise viewer retention.
  • Ensuring scripts and materials adhere to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Advertiser-Friendly content policies.
  • Providing clear edit notes to the editor to ensure narrative pacing and graphic execution align with the creative vision.
  • Collaborating effectively with on-screen talent and multidisciplinary production teams.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of original YouTube content is a must.
  • Skilled in conducting thorough research and rigorous fact-checking.
  • Strong experience devising and pitching innovative video concepts tailored for digital-first audiences.
  • Able to implement editorial feedback efficiently across multiple scripts.
  • Experience in managing end-to-end digital production workflows, with a focus on YouTube best practices.
  • Familiar with G-Suite and project management tools (e.g., Asana).
  • Strong time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple scripts simultaneously.
  • Effective communication with producers, production managers, editors, and presenters.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to respond to detailed editorial feedback.
  • A keen eye for detail and fact-checking.
  • Experience of studio production is desirable.
  • Applications must be in your own voice and words; AI cannot be used to generate responses.
