About the Role
The Collection Helper's main responsibility is to collect and load refuse from customer locations into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle. This role supports the driver in maneuvering and collection, and requires physical strength for lifting and transferring waste. The position reports to the Operations Manager and may be supervised by Route Supervisors and Dispatchers.
Responsibilities
- Transfer refuse in a timely and safe manner from customer stops to vehicle.
- Assist the driver while maneuvering into positions for collection and disposal.
- Maintain and partake in daily clean-up of vehicle.
- Learn garbage routes to better assist driver.
- Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
Requirements
- Must meet physical standards as specified.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Requires a team-player attitude.
Skills
- Physical strength to lift, push, and pull waste bags and receptacles weighing approximately 50-75+ lbs.
- Ability to physically mount and dismount the truck throughout the workday.
