About the Role
Lead and motivate members in a group environment through pre-arranged exercises designed to enhance fitness, strength, and endurance, while ensuring member safety. Serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver group fitness classes based on industry standards and approved formats, ensuring they begin and end promptly.
- Instruct participants on effective workout methods, demonstrating exercises and explaining proper techniques.
- Provide clear verbal instructions and create a motivational atmosphere conducive to learning and fun.
- Coach and motivate participants to achieve fitness goals, monitoring for signs of injury or overexertion.
- Interact with participants, answer questions, orient new members, and solicit feedback to maintain participation and retention.
- Ensure participants use correct form and offer modifications for all fitness levels.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards responsibilities, colleagues, members, and guests.
- Represent and promote Gold's Gym group exercise professionally, adhering to appropriate fitness attire.
- Consistently deliver scheduled classes and coordinate substitutes to avoid cancellations.
- Provide legally purchased music appropriate for the class format, avoiding offensive language.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and microphones are in working order.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the group exercise room.
- Promptly notify management of any equipment or facility repair needs.
- Prepare incident and/or witness reports as necessary for accidents.
- Accurately record hours worked and submit class attendance information in a timely manner.
- Attend all required staff meetings and be willing to attend training to maintain and improve teaching skills.
- Uphold the company's vision, mission, values, and code of conduct, complying with all Gold's Gym policies and procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current hands-on CPR/AED certification and basic first aid training is required.
- Minimum of six months teaching in a group exercise environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of group exercise principles and safe exercise techniques.
- Maintain nationally recognized Group fitness certification by ACE, AFAA, ACSM.
- Provide verifiable proof of specialized skill/training such as Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, Body Attack, etc.
- Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies, including choreography, safe transitional movement patterns, music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm.
- High degree of energy and physical fitness with endurance to complete workouts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic physiology, human anatomy, kinesiology, body mechanics, and training principles.
- Demonstrated engaging and motivational leadership with adaptability to effectively engage participants.
- Ability to create and/or follow appropriate choreography combinations.
- Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism with the ability to motivate others.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.
