About the Role

As an employee of BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH, you will contribute to the quality of life by providing climate-friendly energy to the capital. Our district heating network is the largest in Western Europe, and we supply heat to approximately one-third of Berlin households. We are working towards a coal phase-out by 2030 and climate-neutral generation by 2045, significantly supporting Berlin's climate goals. We are seeking individuals dedicated to advancing the local heat transition.

Responsibilities

Operation, control, and monitoring of power plant components.
Adherence to occupational health and safety, fire, and environmental protection regulations.
Short-term analysis of plant situations and conditions, reporting malfunctions.
Immediate corrective troubleshooting.
Participation in a 5-group, 3-shift system.
Analysis and assessment of operational data.
Clarification of damage and malfunction causes and definition of preventive measures.
Creation and maintenance of documentation for operating and controlling generation plants.
Supervision, instruction, and monitoring of external companies.
Performing plant tours.
Commissioning and decommissioning of plants.
Participation in new construction projects, including trial operations and commissioning.
Execution and monitoring of lockouts and creation/issuance of work permits according to the work permit procedure.

Requirements

Successfully completed training in an electrical profession or as a power plant operator (training will be provided if needed).
Professional and operational experience in power plant operation is desirable.
Good knowledge of MS Office.
Ideally, knowledge of process control systems.
High level of teamwork, communication skills, and resilience.
Commitment, responsibility, flexibility, and reliability.
Analytical and structured thinking.
Suitability for shift work.
Occasional solo work.
