About the Role

This client-facing role in Tokyo focuses on infrastructure and batch support, with opportunities for automation and transparency engineering. The position requires an 8 AM JST start for handover and includes one Saturday shift every 6-8 weeks. The goal is to resolve client issues within SLAs and meet expectations by effectively managing systems and critical incidents with a focus on strategic solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage production services, including end-user support, systems monitoring, incident management, problem management, plant management, and event management.
  • Develop extensive business and application knowledge to support client-facing applications.
  • Diagnose and resolve application issues to ensure optimal performance and usability.
  • Identify and implement automation to reduce toil, improve efficiency, and eliminate customer impact.
  • Provide root cause analysis with recommendations for improvements.
  • Configure application monitors using industry-standard tools and develop customized monitoring solutions.
  • Interface with clients and other technology teams to provide governance and control around the production environment.
  • Manage and drive outage calls and significant incidents; coordinate communications with financial controllers and IT groups.
  • Act as a primary escalation/communication point between application development teams and business units.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience with strong coding and scripting skills in Python, Perl, or Shell, with proficiency in any two of these languages.
  • Deep understanding of database concepts, SQL queries, and database performance.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of infrastructure (Windows/Unix), networking concepts, and protocols.
  • Exposure to highly distributed, high availability, fault-tolerant systems.
