About the Role

The Real Estate Services (RES) Line of Service of the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) is seeking a Space Analyst to function as a Space Manager. This role is responsible for maintaining an inventory of City-owned and leased real estate, documenting changes in occupancy and utilization, creating and updating CAD drawings/architectural floor plans, and developing and maintaining a comprehensive database of space inventory. The team analyzes space utilization to identify opportunities for redesign, consolidation, reallocation, or relinquishment, working closely with Facilities Management, Leasing, and Workplace Services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and walk-throughs to assist in the analysis of the spatial organization and efficient utilization of the City’s real estate portfolio.
  • Analyze results of walk-throughs to identify spaces with potential to accommodate additional staff through restacking, redesign, and/or relocation. Propose spaces for relinquishment.
  • Develop space studies to propose projects directed to realizing office space maximum utilization.
  • Create and update AutoCAD as-built drawings and furniture layouts.
  • Enter floor plans and occupancy information into PPM’s database using Archibus.
  • Conduct periodic surveys to ensure the accuracy of the space inventory data and enter updates to AutoCAD and Archibus files.
  • Prepare reports on building data, organizational data, and occupancy.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and one year of satisfactory, full-time experience in the evaluation and layout of space in office buildings, garages and other structures used for commercial and industrial purposes. Such experience must have included projects requiring knowledge of construction needs and cost, installation of computer equipment and telephone communication systems, and building standards and leasing procedures.
  • Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described above. College education may be substituted for up to four years of experience on the basis of 30 semester credits for one year. However, all candidates must have one year of experience as described above.
  • To be qualified for Assignment Level II, individuals must have two additional years of the experience described above: a baccalaureate degree and three years of experience, or a high school diploma and seven years of experience.

  • $66,330 - $80,000
