About the Role
The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Trial Preparation Assistant Supervisor to oversee the duties and train the professional staff in the Trial Division. This role supports the BXDA's mission of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice.
Responsibilities
- Train TPAs to function within their bureau’s requirements.
- Oversee and track duties of the bureau’s professional staff assignments.
- Maintain a reduced caseload.
- Communicate with the Director and Deputy Director as to the productivity of professional staff regularly.
- Develop and evaluate the professional staff within the bureau.
- Perform administrative management such as maintaining spreadsheets, schedules, and coverage.
- Perform all bureau-related duties as needed or assigned, including drafting or typing of correspondence and confidential documents, updating computer-based tracking systems, record keeping, filing, and document preparation.
- Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus minimum of one semester of law school or comparable experience as a paralegal.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel - intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP and related formulas, Pivot Tables/Charts, other data analytic and visualization techniques).
- Proficiency with Westlaw and PACER.
- Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines.
- Writing sample required.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above.
- All candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above.
