About the Role

The Health Services Office at the Department of Social Services (DSS) aims to enhance the health and well-being of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, reduce mortality, and improve access to care for low-income and vulnerable populations. This role will develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the Family Care Coordination Program, supervising program staff.

Responsibilities

  • Direct program development and research in family health for those experiencing homelessness by evaluating research literature, selecting research methods, and analyzing findings.
  • Develop and train subordinate staff on program standards, practice tools, training materials, and data collection instruments.
  • Monitor and evaluate job performance using standard performance metrics.
  • Conduct program evaluation and use findings to develop innovative strategies for problem-solving and improving outcomes.
  • Design and manage data-informed quality improvement initiatives by developing performance metrics, documentation, and monitoring tools.
  • Analyze reports and trends from social scientific research investigations to ensure valid and reliable methods.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on findings to agency leadership.
  • Lead collaborations and workgroups with external agencies on child mental health services.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science.
  • Three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization.
  • At least two years of experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization.
  • Appointments are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
