About the Role

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Public Buildings, seeks a Facility Architectural Assessor to conduct condition assessments in City-owned buildings. The role involves assessing physical condition, code compliance, sustainability, and resiliency, and identifying problem areas for informed decision-making and prioritization. The position also requires coordinating ADA surveys, recording existing conditions, analyzing codes and laws, and preparing facility assessment reports for budget planning.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct condition assessments in City-owned buildings.
  • Assess the physical condition of exterior and interior building components.
  • Assess the building’s overall code compliance, sustainability, and resiliency.
  • Outline immediate and potential problem areas for informed decisions and prioritization.
  • Coordinate and advise on ADA surveys.
  • Record existing conditions.
  • Provide code and local laws analysis.
  • Prepare facility assessment reports for sponsor agency budget planning purposes.

Requirements

  • Must be permanent in the Architect title, reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #3040), or the Open-Competitive Exam #5009 in August 2024.
  • Include a copy of your Notice of Results card, Receipt of Filing or indicate if you are already permanent in the title.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.
  • Must maintain current New York State Registration as an Architect for the duration of employment.
  • For Assignment Levels II and III, must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise.
