About the Role
Join the Utility Owners Business Unit at 4M and be at the forefront of a mission-critical expansion. This role offers a unique career trajectory, allowing you to grow into broader product areas, lead new segments, or shape AI-product strategy as the business scales. You will have a direct impact on how major utilities manage subsurface risk, preventing catastrophic damage and saving lives.
Responsibilities
- Live in the market and run continuous discovery with Utility Owner customers through calls, site visits, and workflow shadowing to understand their pain points, workflows, and business drivers.
- Synthesize customer feedback and market landscape analysis into a scalable product roadmap and clear productization strategy, identifying biggest pain points and budget areas.
- Define the strategy for winning the Utility Owners segment, including target sub-segments, positioning, and entry wedges, in partnership with executive leadership.
- Utilize AI-native tools to rapidly prototype and build demonstrable Alpha products, from idea to working software in days or hours.
- Act as the connective layer between customers and the engineering team, translating validated concepts into production-ready requirements and staying involved through the handoff.
- Define and track business success metrics for the segment, such as adoption and revenue, in partnership with the Growth team.
- Rapidly master the regulated, technical domain of civil infrastructure, damage-prevention, and the regulatory landscape to build credibility with customers.
Requirements
- Relevant educational background (BA/BS/BE/MBA) in business, computer science, architecture, or industrial engineering.
- 2-5 years of experience in management consulting and/or product management at a B2B SaaS, data, or AI-native company.
- Demonstrated ability to independently design, prototype, and ship working software using modern AI tools, with a portfolio showcasing AI-built applications.
- Understanding of AI-generated output sufficient for reasoning and correction.
- Comfort operating in a 0-to-1, forward-deployed capacity to shape new products and markets directly with executives and customers.
- Balance of strategic consulting instincts for decomposing complex business problems and hands-on skills for building solutions.
- Sharp, credible communication skills for translating between customer needs and engineering, and comfortable working with executive leadership.
- Based in or open to relocating to Austin, TX.
- Genuinely excited about working in an AI-first product culture and using tools like Claude daily for prototyping, iteration, and demoing software.
