About the Role

As the Governor Services Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Governor Services, ensuring governing bodies receive expert advice, high-quality clerking, and effective support. You will lead a team of Governance Support Officers and Clerks, working collaboratively with schools and partners to drive strong governance, compliance, and school improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Governor Services team, ensuring excellent service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Provide expert advice on governance, statutory requirements, and best practice
  • Support governing bodies to fulfil their strategic and statutory responsibilities
  • Drive improvements in governance, including intervention in schools causing concern
  • Oversee governor recruitment, development, and training
  • Manage budgets and ensure the service is financially sustainable
  • Build strong partnerships with schools, council services, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure robust quality assurance, compliance, and safeguarding standards

Requirements

  • Satisfactory employment references and CIFAS identity checks
  • Satisfactory declaration of interest
  • This role is subject to safer recruitment practices as it involves work with children and/or vulnerable adults
  • Satisfactory DBS check
  • Members of staff in public-facing roles must be able to speak fluent English with confidence and accuracy, sufficient for the effective performance of their role.
