About the Role
Lead teams building AI-powered features across two horizons: augmenting existing practice workflows with intelligent capabilities, and pioneering net-new AI-native products that unlock entirely new value for practitioners and their patients. Your mission is to define and deliver how AI transforms the daily work of healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale 1 engineering team owning the AI Practice Efficiency scope, managing teams delivering AI features across practice workflows.
- Champion delivery excellence by unblocking teams, setting high execution standards, and accelerating the pace of experimentation and production release.
- Define and execute the AI product-engineering strategy in partnership with Product, Data Science, and Design.
- Own responsible AI delivery in a regulated context, ensuring AI features are built with appropriate safeguards for a healthcare environment.
- Serve as the engineering voice ensuring our AI products meet the trust bar that healthcare professionals and patients require.
- Work with the VP of Engineering of the Domain to set the AI strategy for the domain.
- Drive cross-domain AI adoption and platform thinking by collaborating with other engineering streams and AI platform teams.
- Champion AI-augmented engineering practices within your own teams.
Requirements
- At least 12+ years of engineering experience, with significant time leading managers and senior ICs in fast-paced, high-growth technology environments.
- Proven ability to run multiple teams across complex, interdependent scopes without losing clarity on outcomes.
- Track record of shipping AI or ML-powered features to real users at scale, with full lifecycle ownership.
- Experience using AI tools directly, building working prototypes, and hands-on with LLM integration, RAG architectures, fine-tuning tradeoffs, evaluation frameworks, and inference constraints.
- Sharp product instinct for where AI creates genuine clinical value.
- Clear framework for navigating responsible AI delivery in a regulated, high-trust healthcare context (GDPR/HDS, explainability, human oversight).
- Exceptional people leadership skills, adapting leadership approach based on context, mentoring other managers, and building environments where engineers grow.
- Fluent in English.
- Experience building AI in healthcare, financial services, or another domain where safety, explainability, and auditability are non-negotiable (preferred).
- Shipped AI that touches clinical workflows, medical terminology, or patient-facing communications (preferred).
- Experience building AI products that work across languages and regulatory frameworks (preferred).
