About the Role

Provides direct nursing care to underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD). Functions as a competent clinician and a member of an interdisciplinary, patient-centered care team, managing unexpected or emergency situations and serving as a resource for other nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the daily care of assigned patients.
  • Identifies patient care needs, formulates nursing diagnoses, develops and individualizes care plans, and revises them as needed.
  • Executes physician's orders, administers medications and treatments, and delivers competent nursing care in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Performs routine and complex technical procedures and skills in the assigned specialty area.
  • Plans, coordinates, and prioritizes patient care activities.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with two (2) years of clinical RN experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a current license or valid permit to practice in Texas.
  • Current BLS-HP required.
  • Security clearance is required.
  • Pre-employment drug testing is required.
